My Morning Skincare Routine

Guest Post: Samantha BraddyHigh Style Life

Rise and shine, gorgeous! It’s time to continue caring for your lovely complexion, with the help of a few of my absolute favorite tips, tried and tested by yours truly, and bulletproof against the pitfalls of modern life. You’ve successfully completed step one, beauty sleep, and now we move on to the rest of your skincare essentials

1. Drink up and soak up

Hydration comes in many forms, but as long as you start your mornings with a refreshing splash of lukewarm water, inside and out, your skin will be forever grateful. In addition to your morning glass of lemon-water, a gentle wash with an all-natural cleansing product is in order, such as the Kahina goat milk soap bar. The coconut, argan and olive oil are also sources of rich moisturization for your skin, while goat milk will keep your skin soft.

2. Break a sweat

And I don’t mean the sauna just yet! Exercising in the morning is an excellent way to fend off stress and improve your metabolism, circulation included. Sweating out the toxins and keeping yourself in shape at the start of your day is an incredible beauty–enhancer for your skin. Plus, that is the only way you can get that rosy post–workout glow that makes you look and feel energized and ready for a day of challenging endeavors.

3. Rub–a–dub–dub

Every now and then, your morning routine should include a gentle scrub to keep those pesky pores clean and pure. Depending on your skin type, you can make your own scrub from sugar, oats, coffee or salt, mixed with yoghurt, honey or plain water. Alternatively, you can always opt for a pre–made exfoliator right off the shelf, such as the Acure brightening facial scrub. Apply by massaging gently and rinse thoroughly once you’re done.

4. Cleanse carefully

Whether you’ve just scrubbed the dead skin cells and makeup off, or you’ve just finished with your early morning workout, your face needs a thorough cleanse. The cruelty-free and skin-friendly Weleda almond cleanser is a perfect solution, especially for sensitive types. The nourishing power of almond and plum kernel oil will balance your skin and give you a smooth texture for the entire day.

5. Tone up or break out

Just like your workouts serve to tone your muscles, your skin will benefit greatly from incorporating a healthy toner in your morning routine. If it’s alcohol–free and based on natural ingredients, like the Herbivore’s hydrating face mist, then it’s a safe bet as it will keep acne at bay and keep your skin irritation–free. It’s enough to use a cotton dab and gently rub the lotion into your skin, because any extra scrubbing can lead to damage.

6. Serum for youthful radiance

Nothing beats serum in the youth–preserving game! Where your moisturizers, cleansers, and toners might fail miserably, the right serum saves the day. They have active ingredients to nourish your skin, minimize those fine lines, keep it smooth and silky, and safeguard its natural elasticity. Go organic and natural with Mukti facial serum because it’s antioxidant–rich, based on Kakadu plum, mountain pepper leaf and wild rosella, so it’s bound to replenish your skin in a matter of moments.

7. Seal the deal with sun protection

From irritation, redness and dark spots, all the way to the dangers of melanoma, the importance of sunscreen cannot be emphasized enough, especially when it comes to your most exposed areas, such as your face. Yes, there are moisturizers with SPF, so you can opt for a multipurpose item, but make sure to still have a sunscreen ready for extra sunny days to reapply if necessary. Block Island’s award-winning non-nano zinc mineral sunscreen can do wonders to keep your skin safe in a pure, all–natural way.

Interesting and I like how you
mention other things we should do to have better skin, like exercising! Everyone should use an SPF product on their face whether it is sunscreen or in their foundation or day lotion. So important!
