With 2017 coming to a close, you might find yourself wanting some down time to reset for the new year. One thing I love to do, is curl up with a warm blanket, a couple good snacks and throw on a Netflix series that I can watch all the way through, in a weekend. Sometimes you just gotta go for a binge–sesh, ya know? Here are my top 5 recommendations, if you’ve got the binge–watching bug too.
Chelsea
With only 2 seasons, Chelsea is a Netflix talk–show you can (and should!) binge–watch this weekend. Her guests range from politicians, to actors, to journalists. Each episode takes you on a journey through relevant topics in the news, with Chelsea’s own classic, provocative take. She pushes boundaries and covers though–provoking topics, while also incorporating comedy and the occasional skit.
Manhunt
Manhunt: Unabomber, originally aired on Discovery, stars Sam Worthington, Chris Noth and Paul Bettany. The series offers just 8 episodes, so you can watch this one in a sitting! The true crime story follows the story of a FBI profiler (Jim Fitzgerald) as he hunts down the infamous Unabomber. The story also gives you an inside look at the troubled life of Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. If you are a fan of true crime TV shows and history, this is a must–watch.
Big Mouth
I had my reservations about this animated series from Netflix and comedian Nick Kroll, but with a star–studded cast (John Mulaney, Jenny Slate, Fred Armisen, Jordan Peele, Maya Rudolph) I gave it a shot and I honestly couldn’t stop laughing at the truly outrageous nature of the show. Big Mouth is about a teenagers journey through puberty, including hormones, periods, wet dreams and many, many more uncomfortable topics, and although it is about teenagers, it is certainly an adult comedy!
The Keepers
The Keepers is a Netflix docuseries, but at only 7 episodes, you can get through this in a night easily. This is the true story of the decades–old, unsolved murder of Sister Catherine and the suspected link to a priest accused of sexual abuse. Following the journey of two former students tracking down leads and gathering information that might help solve the murder, this series documents the knowns and unknowns associated with the case and what has been discovered in the years since the murder, including a possible police cover up. Not for the faint of heart, but a must–watch!
Santa Clarita Diet
This comedy, staring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, is about a husband and wife realtor team, whose lives change when the wife begins exhibiting zombie–like qualities, such as only eating raw meat and attacking strangers. Given, this isn’t a show everyone will like, but I found it to be comical, even though some parts were gory and predictable, and it is a quick watch with only 10 30–minute episodes.
What is your favorite Netflix show to binge–watch?
