4 Ways to Reinvent Your Look Without Losing Yourself

Guest Post: Brigitte EvansHigh Style Life

Reinventing your look is one of the most common things these days, especially if you are part of the social media life (i.e. are active on social media and follow current trends) and are following insane, almost daily celebrity makeovers. To anyone who’s walking the red carpet (or will do so at some point), reinventing a look is as easy as snapping their fingers – they’ve got all the trainers in the world on their speed dial, they work with an exceptional makeup and hairdresser squad, top-notch medical professionals, stylists, they can easily undergo cosmetic surgeries or resort to any other form of beauty method to help them with their instant makeover. Unfortunately, us mortals have to do things a bit differently. But hey – there’s beauty in the process too, isn’t there?

Since you are set on reinventing your look, here are some great tips you could go through and get inspired.

Promise to pamper yourself

As the years go by, most of us get too lazy to care about taking good care of ourselves; fruits get replaced with Twix, veggies are nowhere in sight, and sodas become the new water. But, it’s not just that: all of a sudden, we’re all about ponytails, no-manicure-and-pedicure policy, our faces turn into one big blackhead and we start looking…. well, plain. The first step towards your reinvention is penning regular pampering sessions in your schedule (no excuse!). Make sure you visit the hairdresser at least once a week and book facials and mani-pedis once a month. Any other self-care beauty treatments like massages, cellulite reduction treatments, tanning, etc. are welcome as well.

Say goodbye to the past

We’ve all been in love, and we’ve all suffered at least one heartbreak. It’s all part of the life-cycle and we honestly believe things happen at the times we’re mentally and emotionally ready to weather them, even though it might not seem like that at the time. That tattoo reminding you of your toxic ex and that horrible relationship won’t do you any good in your makeover process. So, maybe it’s time you treat yourself to a professional tattoo removal and say goodbye to the past once and for all. Start fresh and walk into a life filled with possibilities.

Start with the gym

No, we’re not suggesting you are fat or out of shape; apart from being a phenomenal remedy for the body, going to the gym actually helps a person’s morale, it invigorates them and helps them stay in a positive mood. Assuming you are not high on a makeover process out of boredom or the good old I-can’t-wear-the-same-hairdo-for-20-years, aka BOREDOM, we’ll take into consideration the possibility of a deeper issue happening, one you are still not ready to deal with (hey, no one’s judging). To get yourself in an awesome mood, start going to the gym and let the stress go. Bonus points? Amazing physique!

Browse Pinterest

A huge part of reinventing your look is switching up your current style; if you are unhappy with the same old same old, Pinterest is your go-to inspiration for finding the style you believe would be perfect for you. Yes, Kim Kardashian and the crew have five stylists per month, we’ve got Pinterest – and that’s fine! Consider your physique, height and body shape during your style browsing. The best clothes and styles are the ones we have an immediate, emotional response to, so use that as your guide. Once you’ve selected the items you like, consult with a friend whose fashion opinion you trust and get some useful tips. And, finally – when the new style’s determined – grab your credit card and go shopping! As for the old clothes: donate everything you can.

Humans are very interesting creatures: they are never satisfied with anything and even when they are – they are not. And, that’s fine as long as the whole incomplete satisfaction thingy is pushing us towards bettering ourselves instead of making us miserable. And, guess what? We know this will be a positive experience for you and that you’ll emerge looking even better than you did till now!

Pinterest is my favourite place to find new style pieces! I always struggle with the follow-through. But your idea of promising to pamper yourself really helps with that. Maybe now I’ll finally get off my butt and make a change!

I love this! I’m one those get bored with something after a short while then it’s on to the next thing type of people. I’ve been interested in doing a wardrobe change for a while so instead of tattoos I’m removing old clothes that need to go away! 🙂
