5 Beauty Trends of 2018 You Will Love to Learn More About

Guest Post: Brigitte EvansHigh Style Life

Every new year brings innovation in nearly every area of our lives, and the beauty industry is no exception. And this year, once again, we are offered innovative solutions and new concepts that will revolutionize our beauty routines. And we are welcoming with open arms any chance to shorten our routine, improve our look and make ourselves look and feel healthy and beautiful. From cosmetics to treatments, these are the news you will fall in love with.

The trend that has everyone on their feet, microneedling is the innovative way of treating a wide range of skin problems, from age spots to acne scars. But why is everyone so excited about this? It’s because of its unique approach to healing the skin, by helping the skin heal itself from within. A microneedling treatment involves a roller with tiny needles that is rolled over the skin. This creates microscopic wounds that trigger your body to produce more collagen and elastin to heal the skin. And while your body thinks it’s only healing the micro wounds, it’s actually healing much more, giving you beautiful, smooth, healthy skin, without using any harsh chemicals or procedures. Ask in clinics around you to find one that offers the service, or if you don’t have any acne, inflamed skin or other conditions, you can order an at-home kit and do it yourself.

All natural

After decades of using all sorts of chemicals in our skincare and beauty routines, we are turning back to Mother Nature – and taking care of it in the process. Organic and natural products are hitting the shelves, and while they might not always give instant results, they are so much better for your skin and the planet in the long run. Think about it: why would we ever use something unnatural if we can get everything we need in nature? Companies are also taking steps to make their packaging eco-friendly, either by omitting it altogether like Lush, or by making the packaging biodegradable or reusable.

Cosmetic procedures

All over the world, cosmetic procedures are becoming more accessible to everyone. In some parts of the world, especially in Asia, cosmetic surgeries are the new standard, with procedures like double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty being done by an increasing number of men and women. In my homeland, Australia, a lot of people are opting for cosmetic surgery in Perth, where they offer popular procedures like dermal and lip fillers and specialized ones like earlobe repair. With surgeries being available in more and more clinics, you need to do your research to find a good clinic and a surgeon you feel comfortable with. The new non-invasive procedures are a great alternative to traditional surgeries so talk to your surgeon about all of the available options for you.

Beauty for all

Last year, as well as the beginning of this one, was marked by a lot of talk about gender. And the beauty industry got the hint: more and more companies are now modeling makeup on male models and creating makeup and products that are truly for everyone. There are now more unisex fragrances, hair products and makeup in general, because the industry realized that everyone wants to look and feel good, and nobody should be excluded.

Bespoke makeup

From makeup for everyone to makeup that is just for you: bespoke makeup is a trend that acknowledges that we are all unique and that our skins have different needs. This is why bespoke cosmetics are tailor-made for every purchase and offer your skin exactly what it needs. A lot of brands are jumping on the bandwagon and it’s really no surprise, because once you try it, you will never want to go back to using the generic products from the shelves. It’s not cheap, but when you find that perfect match, it will most definitely be worth it.

To sum it up, we are moving forward and outwards, spreading the range of cosmetics offered while at the same time going back to our roots. It is a good year for cosmetics and it seems there’s no plan to slow down the innovation, so we are left to eagerly look ahead to the next big trend to come at us this year.

So many cool new things coming. I personally am getting rid of chemicals in my beauty routine as much as possible! I hadn’t heard of microneedling- it sounds promising.

I am loving the bespoke makeup trend. It is important that cosmetic brands recognize the different needs of their customers skin types and tones!
