Currently Crushing: The Edit by Courtney

One of my absolute favorite things is getting an inside look at the products, books, podcasts, charities, etc. that bloggers use and love. I have a running list on my phone of blogger–recommended items to try throughout the year. This week, I am introducing a new series to ElizabethMae called Currently Crushing. Each week, different women will share their must-haves, must-reads, must-dos with you. Keep reading for the five things I’ve been loving this month.

Be The Change

If you follow Brit + Co, you already know about their great mix of beauty, fashion and, home advice. New this year, is an impactful series of challenges called Be The Change. As women, there are plenty of causes that we would love to be involved with, but often don’t know how or where to start. Be The Change is a guide to helping you get involved. Whether you want to Make Change With Nonprofits or Lighten Your Carbon Footprint, Brit + Co can help. I personally am interested in Empowering Women Candidates for office.

Currently Reading

Currently Crushing: Currently Reading

These three books are my favorite reads of May so far. The Twelve Tribes of Hattie (4/5) is a unique story. Each chapter follows the life of one of Hattie’s children and not one chapter disappoints. The chapters do not often reference the other children, but they do give you a well-rounded view of Hattie herself. This reads as a collection of stories, rather than one cohesive novel and I thought it was beautiful and heartbreaking and wonderfully written. On a more serious note, We Should All Be Feminists (5/5), should be required reading, in my opinion. Adapted from the TEDx talk of the same name—by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie—it is the most important description of feminism I have ever read. Another must-read is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (5/5). I think I can honestly say, I have never been so surprised by a novel. This was not what I expected, and that is what made it so good. If you only have time for one novel this month, this is my number one recommendation.

Boon Supply Co.

Love the name, love the cause, love the products. Boon Supply Co. is a newly launched everyday goods online store, that gives 50% of every purchase to a charity of your choice.  I am placing an order for this quilted flat iron case, this zip cord case, and this colander. I personally will be choosing Every Mother Counts as my charity of choice, but you can select the one that means most to you.

New summer, new sport

Currently Crushing: Vol. 1 - Golfing

Growing up, my cousins played golf with my great-grandpa, but I never did get into the game. This summer I have plans to change that. My goal is to improve my putting, because I really struggle with my short game. In central MN, there are several great courses to play (The Preserve, The Pines, Deacon’s Lodge) and with a boyfriend who has a golf membership, there is no better time to get my golf on. Plus, the outfits are cute.

I had absolutely no idea that Twin Peaks was on Netflix. Is it the one from the 90s or the one that came out a year or so ago? Either way — I’ll gave to check it out.

    Great picks! x

I had not ever heard of any of your hulu list and only one of your netflix list did I know of but have yet to watch. So I guess I have a lot of bingeing to do. A tub of ice cream and a lazy day in bed would be perfect to enjoy some of your suggestions. Thanks for sharing .
