One of my absolute favorite things is getting an inside look at the products, books, podcasts, charities, etc. that bloggers use and love. I have a running list on my phone of blogger–recommended items to try throughout the year. This week, Jana Baecker is sharing her five favorite things she has been loving this month. Jana Baecker is a freelance sustainable, digital & print designer, educator, and photographer. She resides in Duluth MN with her husband and her two sons.
True Roots Cookbook
A sweet friend of mine gave me Kristin Cavallari’s new cookbook, True Roots, and I am in love! My family and I have been on the Plant Paradox diet since last fall and True Roots has several recipes (slightly modified) that work for our diet. The almond butter blondies are heavenly! (I make them with carrot instead of zucchini). Anyone who is looking to learn more about clean eating should check this cookbook out. Even my kids are obsessed with the healthy meals!
Best Investment for Better Sleep
Noise machines are life! Anyone who has kids will understand that. Both of my kids have been sleeping so much better since we bought noise machines for their bedrooms. I have been a mom for three years and I am not sure why it took us so long, it has been a game changer. My kids don’t wake up as much at night, which makes my whole family sleep better. After all, we all need and love sleep!
Reading Lately: Big Little Lies
This novel is so captivating! I simply love a book that you can’t put down the minute you start reading it. I have read other books by Liane Moriarty, but this one is, by far, my favorite. It has drama, murder, love and strong girlfriend relationships! What’s not to love? It’s the perfect summer-read.

I got a Fitbit last year in order to keep track of my activity level and it has been very helpful. Not only does it motivate me to move more, it even reminds me to get up to get my daily steps in. I also like how it tracks my sleep and heart rate. It just helps me have a more active and healthy life.
Stainless Steel Bottles
This year I have been trying to reduce the amount of plastic my family uses, so we have invested in stainless steel bottles that hopefully will last longer than the plastic reusable bottles we’ve used in the past. I love them because they keep beverages refreshingly cool and hot beverages warm. We got a Hydro Flask for hot beverages, a Camelbak for water and a Tommee Tippee for the kiddos. I encourage people to recycle plastic bottles or find a new use for them, such as using them as a watering can for plants.
That concludes Vol. 2 of Currently Crushing. Check back next week for all the best in products, TV, reading, etc.
