One of my absolute favorite things is getting an inside look at the products, books, podcasts, charities, etc. that bloggers use and love. I have a running list on my phone of blogger–recommended items to try throughout the year. This week, I am introducing a new series to ElizabethMae called Currently Crushing. Each week, different women will share their must-haves, must-reads, must-dos with you. Keep reading for the five things I’ve been loving this month.
These two albums have been on repeat on my Spotify: Kacey Musgraves, Golden Hour and Kip Moore, Slowheart. Kacey Musgraves has always been a favorite of mine since she released Same Trailer, Different Park in 2013. Not only could I listen to her voice all day, but I love the cleverness of her lyrics. She is such a talented vocalist and lyricist. Golden Hour, in my opinion, is not just one of the best country albums of 2018, but one of the best albums, of 2018, period. On a different note, I started to love Kip Moore after seeing him perform at the Grand Ole Opry last year. He performed a couple songs from his newly released album, Slowheart, and from that point on, I was sold. Each song is a heartfelt retelling of his Nashville life, with only two songs not written by him personally. Highlights for me are Guitar Man, The Bull, and Last Shot.
Now you’re lifting me up ‘stead of holding me down / Stealing my heart ‘stead of stealing my crown / Butterflies
Your soul is pure golden / Must’ve been true love you were grown in / More Girls Like You
Running like a river trying to find the ocean / Flowers in the concrete / Climbing over fences, blooming in the shadows / Places that you can’t see / Coming through the melody when the night bird sings / Love is a wild thing / Love Is A Wild Thing
When it rains, it pours / But you didn’t even notice it ain’t rainin’ anymore / It’s hard to breathe when all you know is / The struggle of stayin’ above the risin’ water line / Rainbow
Well they’ll ask for more love songs and I’ll play with a smile / To help them hold on or forget for a while / They can fill up that jukebox with a week’s worth of pay / But it can’t fill their happy and it can’t fill their pain / Guitar Man
Have I ever mixed your memory with Tennessee? / Have I ever dialed you up, but never let it ring? / Do I wonder where you are with every sip? / Plead The Fifth
As a graphic designer, I have a healthy obsession with all things color and this month, I am finding inspiration in all the color found in nature. I use Pinterest as a way to house all of the color inspiration I come across while browsing. I reference this board when designing, blogging, and even writing. My favorites right now are:

I recently discovered artist Heather Day, via Instagram and I just fell in love with her style. This excerpt from her website sums it up well: “California-based artist Heather Day makes abstract paintings that are informed by sensory interpretations bridging the thoughts between what is known and how it is felt. Shifting between traveling and working in her studio, Day creates pieces that represent both profound and mundane situations. Her encompassing murals, spacious canvas paintings, and intimate drawings read like handwriting—from one side to another.” These small works are among my favorites – if these are not color inspiration, I don’t know what it. Of her large paintings, this one melts my heart a little.
If you are a lover of fashion or illustration or both, you have got to follow this Insta account. Jill, an LA-based fashion illustrator, does these gorgeous illustrations, and thankfully, shares them with us via her Insta account. If you love them, you can even purchase them via her online shop (yay!). I personally love the feel-good attitude of the illustrations. I mean…
